Introduction to Microcontroller Programming

Audience: High School

This course requires an additional $50 supply fee for an Arduino Kit

In this 9-week Introduction to Microcontroller programming course students will learn the fundamentals of electricity, schematics, analog and digital signals, programming, and more while they develop a simulated traffic light.

Microcontroller Programming opens up students to the world of programmatically controlling devices such as an automobile engine, robot or toy.

This course promotes computational thinking and problem solving skills along with self-expression and collaboration. Students learn how to work through mistakes and understand that practice and perserverance are keys to success.

Upon course completion, students will test out of the intro class and be eligible to take the Intermediate Microcontroller Programming course.

Students are required to bring a laptop to class. The computer will need:

  • Windows 10 or 11 Laptop Computer
  • WiFi
  • 80 GB free space on hard drive
  • I3 or better processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Optical Drive preferable, but not necessary
  • atleast one working USB port

****Mac Products, Tablets, and Chromebooks will not be sufficient for this course****
